Text from the 2012 launch of the project:
Welcome to Fund-A-House, a project by your favorite artists who came together to construct homes for low-income, strong and creative women in Rwanda. Tiny Showcase will release a series of prints with the proceeds being used to build the prototype houses for Fund-A-House.
The Fund-A-House Project will construct 50 houses with Dushyigikirane, a women's association in rural Masoro, Rwanda. The association's 600 members have been working on many economic and social projects after the 1994 genocide, empowering their members as well as the whole village of Masoro. Now, they plan to build houses for their neediest members and fellow villagers. Tiny Showcase is excited to collaborate with the association through art making.
Over the next few weeks we will be releasing artwork by: Roxanne Bartlett, Hisham Bharoocha, Mat Brinkman, Melissa Brown, Brian Chippendale, Jim Drain, Leif Goldberg, Jungil Hong, Marie Lorenz, Ara Peterson, Erin Rosenthal, Yutaka Sho, Tao Urban, and Andrew Jeffrey Wright.
